Twitter, tweets and hashtags… what’s it all about?
The twitter phenomenon has well and truly hit and is estimated to be the 3rd most used social networking site closely followed by Facebook. If you haven’t jumped on the band wagon already you may be wondering whether you should and if so how.
First of all its free for anyone to sign up to and use and in 140 characters or less you can post a ‘tweet’ (micro blog) for the world to read – which lets face it, is pretty powerful stuff, thats why its something at Clickfire we are actively encouraging our clients to consider as a marketing platform.
But how do you get started? What do you write? Who should be responsible for your tweets, the tone and messaging? How important is the follower ratio? What are hashtags and how do they work? Can you brand your Twitter profile? Are you going to need social media guidelines? …
It may seem a bit of minefield at first and as with anything, there have been incredible success stories but there have also been the damming ones too.
Paul Manuel, Clickfire’s MD, has been asked to talk about Twitter at the next Hampshire E-Commerce business seminar. Seen as something of a Twitter expert, Paul will be discussing the pros and cons of the phenomenon.
